An English girl, some cookies, and the Tarn 🍪
I'm Tayler, originally from a small town just outside London.
At 23, I was living in Dubai. Life was exciting but stressful, and I needed to get away and clear my head. My family has always had a home in Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, a little village in the south of France, so I booked a solo trip there.
There was no big plan. I just needed a break.
I reconnected with old friends I hadn't seen in nearly ten years, and then, completely unexpectedly, I met my boyfriend. I went back to Dubai, and two weeks later I flew back to France and moved in with him.
Yeah, I know. It sounds crazy.
Suddenly I was living somewhere new, where I didn't know many people and didn't speak French. At all. His family and friends were so welcoming, always inviting me to dinners and parties, and I desperately wanted to talk to everyone. I just didn't have the words.
So I found another way.
My mum always taught me never to turn up empty-handed, and that something homemade is even better. For me, that was cookies. Whenever someone invited me over, I baked. It was my way of saying, "Hello, I'm Tayler. Thank you for having me."
Baking had always been part of my life. I learnt so much from my nan, developed my own recipes over the years, and even ran a little baking business during COVID when I was 19.
Then something started happening. People loved the cookies. Friends told friends, and people began asking to buy boxes.
That's how Taylers Treats began in France. Not from a business plan, but from a 23-year-old English girl who couldn't speak the language and wanted to connect with people.
Today, Taylers Treats is all about cookies and homemade treats, with recipes created by me and inspired by my nan. Everything is made with love, and of course, everything is very, very pink.
My French is much better now (bilingual? Definitely not!), and I've worked with companies I once only dreamed of. Something that started as a hobby has become my job.
I went to France to clear my head. Instead, I fell in love, started again somewhere new, and baked my way into a whole new life.
And no matter how much Taylers Treats grows, every cookie still means what those first ones did:
A little bit of love, from me to you. 💗
